It is easy to understand how Dickey’s is both that authentic, family-owned barbecue joint around the corner, and the largest barbecue restaurant company in the world.

What started as a small, single barbecue stand in Dallas, Texas, 80 years ago has been passed down through three generations and now extends to over 600 restaurants worldwide.

Over the years, people have asked how Dickey’s stays authentic. “Simple, we still prepare things the way my grandfather and father did. We work with suppliers to get the best cuts of meat. We use our secret seasoning to dry rub our meats, then we load them into real barbecue pits. Every restaurant has a real wood-burning barbecue pit. You can always smell the smoke from the parking lot.” Roland Dickey, Jr., CEO of Dickey’s Capital Group. Dickey’s original restaurant on Central expressway in Dallas, Texas, has the distinction of being the city’s oldest, continuously operating restaurant that has never moved, changed names or changed ownership. Shayla Partusch leads our Barbecue At Home by Dickey’s team. She’s the pint-sized executive that delivers big on our promise to only serve the best. Shayla and her team ensure every order meets our high quality and service standards.

Likewise, every product that carries the Dickey name, is overseen by our Head Chef and VP of Culinary Development Phil Butler. Chef Phil has a passion for barbecue, outstanding culinary credentials and a truly unique perspective, at over 6’3” tall.
